The Driffield's Brick Works is shown in detail on the 1913 map of Haxby.
We have two photographs of the wind pumps beside the ponds. They were taken by members of Haxby Women's Institute in or around 1960. The remains of the pumps are still inside. The water was pumped out of the pond to enable the clay to be dug out. The pumps look much the same today.
The two ponds, formerly part of the Brick Works are now very pleasant rural places popular with fishermen.
