Friargate Community Archaeology Project was formed in 2012 in advance of building work at the Quaker Meeting House in central York. Members the the Friargate Quaker meeting and the York U3A were joined by other volunteers to demolish a 18thC wall, carry out small scale excavations and undertake historical research.
Meetings are held monthly at Friargate Quaker Meeting House, YO1 9RL, to undertake research on finds and to draw up a definitive report. Anyone interested in helping with the project, is welcome to attend any of our events. Contact the Meeting House on 01904 624065 for information. We have a Facebook Page to keep you up to date.
